Postcard from Paris
A visual + creative roundup from a quick trip that reminded me why I love what I do
I just got back from a few days in Paris, and every time I leave there, I feel refreshed and inspired. I also attended the Type Paris Now 25 conference, and there were so many amazing speakers this year! I love having the opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives and hear from industry experts—while getting a peek behind the curtain into their creative process.
It always leaves me feeling energized because I learn new ways to experiment and gain insight into how others approach their creative process. Taking those bits and pieces and incorporating them into my own workflow is one of the most fun parts of being a creative. We all have a unique perspective (check out my post on that below), so sharing those perspectives—and using insights and ideas in your own practice—is soooo important.
One of my favorite talks from the conference was Tina Touli’s on blending physical and digital worlds. My biggest takeaway was about experimenting with what’s already in your toolbox (and your archive of inks and other creative tools) to create something unique. She talked about taking inspiration from everyday things to make something totally new. Tina had a super creative way of making 3D-looking assets by layering real-life oils, inks, and pigments in a tray to create beautiful, organic effects. You can view more of her amazing work here.
Another talk that really stuck with me was Joachim Roncin’s behind-the-scenes look into the branding for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was incredible to hear all of the thought and innovation that went into crafting every detail. From using a small piece of the Eiffel Tower in each medal, to designing a mascot that could seamlessly transition between the Olympic and Paralympic Games—every element was considered. It reminded me just how powerful and important design is in shaping what we see and experience. This branding effort took years, and you could feel how deeply the hard work paid off. You can view more of his amazing work here.
Not only was the conference inspiring, but the city itself was overflowing with creative energy. From the iconic architecture and stunning storefront designs to the street style and all of the food—it’s hard not to leave Paris feeling recharged (despite clocking over 20,000 steps a day!)
Here are a few more inspiring bits from our trip:
Call me basic… but I still get giddy every time I see the Eiffel Tower from every angle. It’s just so stunning.
The tile and typography at each metro stop? Chef’s kiss.
We stopped into the cutest crepe spot—Armelle Crêperie in the 11th Arr.—after visiting the Type Directors Club exhibition. Not only was the interior beautiful, but the bathroom wallpaper was adorable. I’m obsessed with the hand-drawn illustration style in there.
I finally had the chance to explore the Bourdelle Museum, and it was just as stunning as I hoped. The sculptures and garden areas are truly worth the visit.
Here’s a shot from the TDC71 exhibition. So many incredible pieces. It was a great time walking through and soaking it all in.

Overall, the trip was a total success. I love leaving a place feeling recharged and refreshed. It makes me so excited for what’s ahead and all the creative endeavors I have coming up 👀
Until next time,
